Civil War

July 30, 1861
Hey everybody! I am writing in regards to the Civil War that has just started. The problem started when South Carolina declared their independence. The called themselves The Confederate States of America. Soon after 10 other states had seccessced for the Union. The North has the advantage of money which allows them to get weapons and supplies while on the other hand the South has home field advantage. The North also has a lot more people than the South but the people from the South come from rural areas where they are  better with guns and being in undeveloped environments. The Confederate States of America have also just written a declaration of independence. I think it will be very bad if the country separates. I have just written a poem about the war as it was starting called Beat! Beat! Drums! as a rally call for the North. We need to stick together. The North will win this war.

The election of 1860

April 4, 1860
Hello. I haven't talked to you guys in a while. Aberham Lincon has just been inagurated. I could see us being freinds. We have very silimar looks on politics and slavery. A freind of mine has recomended I write some peoms about him. I haven't been able to write very much poetry lately because my old book, "Leaves of Grass" was looked down apon for its truthfulness. This year I will be coming out with a new addition to my book, "Leaves of Grass" with more poems. I think Mr. Lincon will find a solution for the slavery problem. Leave me a comment letting me know what you think.

The Dreg Scott Decision

November 11, 1857
Dreg Scott Case Colletion
Hello. It's been a while since my last entry. Today I am going to tell you about what I think of the Dreg Scott Decision. If you are not aware the Dreg Scott Decision is a law suit where slave Dreg Scott sued his owner for freedom. He should have been able to be free because he was still held a slave in two non-slave states. I do not approve at all of slavery moving. The Supreme Court did not set him free because he was not a citizen because he was a slave so he didn't have the right to sue. I think this is a cruel way to treat a human. He deserved his freedom but didn't get it. Leave me a comment and let me know what your thoughts are about this.

The Kansas-Nebraska Act

January 3, 1855
Hi. I am writing this blog about the new Kansas-Nebraska Act. If you haven't heard this act is about allowing slavery in these new territories to have slavery. I think that this is a bad act. I do not believe in slavery. They should keep it to where it already is so it will not spread. If we keep it from spreading it will eventually die out. I don't see why the government is giving this so much attention. If they just left it alone everything would be fine. The good thing is that they got rid of the Missouri Compromise. That thing was just making it all worse. Let me know your thoughts in a comment. Have a nice day.

Uncle Tom's Cabin

ABC-CLIO American History
May 5, 1852
Hey guys, I wanted to talk about this book. If you haven't heard about it, it is a book about how slaves are mistreated. She also talks about how terrible a life being a slave would be. I find slavery to be bad but I don't think it is a topic that deserves the attention we are giving it. The book just is to get people to make things over dramatic. I think that all these abolintionists are just making this a bigger issue than it needs to be. If they would just let it be it would eventually die out by itself.  Comment and tell me what you think about it.
